Art Alive



                                                              ART ALIVE
This Term we are learning about ART ALIVE. In Art Alive we can paint and make it look like it was painted by a famous artist. We are looking at artist around the world. Picasso, Matisse, Monet, Van Gogh and a New Zealand artist, Danielle Hulme. The First artist I learnt about was Vincent Van Gogh. I learn his name because when we were in room 22 and we had to paint the sunflower..

Vincent Van Gogh


Vincent Van Gogh was born 1853 30th of March and past away July 29th 1890. He was a Dutch painter who was notable for its rough beauty, emotional honesty, and bold colour. After years of painful anxiety and frequent bouts of mental illness, he died at the age of 37 by shooting himself. Van Gogh only sold one painting when he was alive worth around about 500 dollars.

Van Gogh started drawing from when he was a child, and he continued to draw throughout the years that led up to his decision to become an artist. He did not begin painting until his late twenties, completing many of his best-known works during the last two years of his life. In just over a decade, he produced more than 2,100 artworks, consisting of 860 oil paintings and more than 1,300 watercolors. Drawings, sketches and prints, His work included self portraits, landscapes, flowers, portraits and paintings of cypresses, wheat fields and sunflowers.
